MTN
Governance: A Self-Directed Organization
The MTN organizational structure is designed to be both
productive and efficient for promoting organizational
inquiry and responding to the changing conditions
associated with implementation of the reform effort. The
Governing Board receives detailed information and
recommendations from MTN staff concerning project progress,
problems and results. Board members respond to this
information with questions and discussion tempered by their
own district perspectives and experiences.
MTN GOVERNING BOARD
The Governing Board is the policy making
body of the Marin Teaching Network (MTN). It is composed of
superintendents and trustees from each of the member
districts. MTN staff attends and participates in Governing

By being a member of MTN, districts can collaborate on
policies, gain access to important information, develop
shared instructional strategies and access resources that
individual districts are not able to provide on their own.
Teachers, administrators, trustees and parents are
encouraged to actively participate in all aspects of MTN
work. Member districts contribute annual dues, time and
leadership to MTN. District contributions are used to pay
teachers for participation in project development,
curriculum articulation efforts and professional workshops.
